The Best Honey BBQ Boneless Wings
I don't know about you, but boneless BBQ wings were one of my favorite things to order as a kid. I was feeling nostalgic the other day and was craving some barbecue boneless wings, so I created this recipe.
I'm definitely biased, but these are finger-licking good and taste better than anything I've ever ordered from a restaurant! These boneless wings are fried to golden brown perfection and tossed in a thick, savory barbecue sauce that has a touch of sweetness.
Not only are they delicious, but they're perfect for any occasion! Whether you're making this recipe for game day, as an easy appetizer, or to change up your typical weeknight dinner, everyone will love this recipe!
Ingredients Needed
- 2 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- ¾ cup flour
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ¾ cup milk
- 1 egg
- ½ cup honey BBQ sauce or your favorite BBQ sauce with a tablespoon of honey
How To Make BBQ Boneless Wings
Step 1: Prep The Chicken
First, cut the chicken into small chunks and place it on a wire rack on a baking sheet. Combine flour with salt, pepper, and paprika on a plate with a rim. Then, whisk milk with a pinch of salt and egg in a small bowl.
Step 2: Coat the chicken
Next, dip the chicken in the milk mixture, then dip the flour so both sides are coated. Repeat once more so the chicken is double-coated.
Step 3: Fry The Chicken
Now heat 1 ½-inch of oil in a deep frying pan. Add the coated chicken pieces to the pan and fry them for about 5-6 minutes, flipping halfway through. Arrange the golden brown chicken onto the wire rack so the excess oil can drip.
Step 4: Sauce chicken
Now place the chicken into a large bowl and add the honey BBQ sauce over the chicken. Toss the chicken gently until coated with the sauce on all sides. You can add more sauce if you want them extra saucy. Finally, serve the wings warm and enjoy!
Expert Tips
- Make sure you gently toss the wings in the sauce, or the breading will fall off. I like to use a rubber spatula to stir the wings in the sauce.
- Try to cut the chicken into even pieces so they all cook evenly.
- If you don't want to fry the wings in oil, you can bake them instead. Bake the wings on a wire rack on top of a baking sheet at 425°F for about 15 minutes, then sauce the wings and broil them for a few minutes to caramelize the sauce.
How To Store BBQ Boneless Chicken Wings
This barbecue boneless wings recipe makes four servings, but they're so finger-licking delicious that you might not have any leftovers! If you have leftovers, consider yourself lucky cause the wings taste incredible the next day. You can store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can put them in a freezer-safe bag to keep them longer and freeze them for about 6 months.
How To Reheat The Boneless Wings
The best way to reheat the wings is in the air fryer or oven. Preheat the air fryer to 350°F or oven to 400°F and heat for about 3 minutes on each side. If you're reheating the frozen boneless wings, add more time and heat until warmed through.
